This feature allows you to immediately call emergency services in your area by pressing and holding the side and volume buttons at the same time.

What Happens When You Press the SOS Button on iOS 16?

When you press the SOS button on your iPhone, it automatically calls the nearest emergency number. In some countries and regions, you may need to select the desired service. In mainland China, for example, you can choose between police, fire brigade and ambulance. You can also include contact information in the event of an emergency. After an emergency call, unless you cancel, your iPhone will send a text message to your emergency contacts. When you enter SOS mode, your iPhone will send your current location and your emergency contacts will receive updates when your location changes for some time.
