In the past 24 hours, hundreds of TikTok users around the world have reported that the TikTok app is not working on their iPhones and other smartphones.
It’s not uncommon for this popular social media app to be offline for a few hours. Several times in the year 2022, TikTok faced downtime, but today it happens quite often.
Yesterday around 3:00 PM, the TikTok app stopped working for many users. Initially, users thought that TikTok only crashed on iPhones because they were updated to iOS 16.
Well, that rumor was unfounded as many Android users also reported the TikTok app crashing.
The crashing of the TikTok app was fixed by the developers within a few hours, but the same problem was reported again around 10 a.m.
This photo shows that more than 27,000 users reported that TikTok was not working from 3 to 4 p.m., while more than 6,000 users reported that the TikTok app crashed this morning.
If you’re wondering why TikTok keeps crashing, here’s everything you need to know.
TikTok shows no internet connection
Since yesterday, hundreds of users have faced errors when using the TikTok app.
A user named @disqus_jHZ4Ve8Qvy on DSQUS said: “OMG does anyone’s TikTok show as “no internet connection” or zero?”
Another user, Charlie D, replied: “Yup, no internet connection, connect and try again. I know I have connections because I was on YouTube about two minutes ago.”
Although users had a stable internet connection, the TikTok app indicates that there is no internet connection.
Why is TikTok down today and no internet connection showing?
According to Downdetector.com, we found that more than 33,000 users around the world encountered the same error on TikTok.
This means that this is a global outage and a server issue could cause the TikTok app to crash on iPhone and Android smartphones.
In the event that the TikTok app crashes every time, there is nothing you can do but wait for the TikTok server issue to be resolved by the developers.
Therefore, we notice that TikTok does not work if there is a malfunction on the TikTok servers or the error message “No internet connection” is displayed.
How To Fix TikTok Not Working? on My iPhone? 6 solutions
Some users took to Twitter and some other social media platforms to inform them that when they were in the process of uploading a video on TikTok, the app suddenly crashed and showed that there was no internet connection.
If you encounter a similar error, you can fix the problem by following the methods given here.
1. Check your iPhone’s internet connection
When TikTok keeps saying that there is no internet connection, the first step to follow is to check if your internet connection is okay.
Try using a different app or search for a keyword on Google. If you can use the internet connection on other apps, there is no problem with the connection.
2. Gran permissions for the TikTok app
Apple offers many privacy features with the iOS 16, allowing users to control what data and features an app can access. However, apps like TikTok require microphone and camera permissions if you want to record a video.
If you’re having a problem creating a TikTok video, it could be because the app doesn’t have permission. So go on your iPhone to Settings => Privacy => Microphone and turn it on.
Now do the same for the camera.
3. Restart your iPhone
If the above solution doesn’t work for you and the problem persists then you need to restart your phone. Many users suggested restarting the TikTok app to fix the problem, but I recommend resting the device.
Restarting a smartphone can fix common software issues so you should try this. After it reboots, wait a few seconds and turn the internet connection off and on again.
Now launch the TikTok app and check if it works properly.
4. Check for the app update
If the above method doesn’t work for you, go to the Apple App Store on your iPhone or Play Store on your Android phone and look for the latest update for the TikTok app.
If available, you should update the app immediately and check if the problem is solved. If not, then move on to the next method to fix TikTok not working.
5. Clear data and install the app again
Often a lot of app data and cache can cause the app to crash. It can happen that if you have a lot of app cache stored on your phone, the app works slowly or sometimes even crashes.
So you can clear the data and then reinstall the app. To clear application data on iOS, you need to go to Settings => General => iPhone Storage => TikTok => Delete App.
This will delete the app along with any data stored in the app. Now you can reinstall the app.
6. Check if TikTok is not available
As in the introduction, I indicated that large social media platforms often have to deal with downtime or outages.
Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok experience occasional outages. So, if any of the above-mentioned solutions do not work to crash TikTok app, then you need to open Downdetector.com and click on TikTok.
If a graph is displayed, it means that many users are facing the same problem as you. You can also report the downtime here.
In such a case, you have to wait a few hours because TikTok developers are quick enough to fix the problem.
