Samsung has launched the newly launched T7 Shield Portable SSD to its portfolio of high-performance and ultra-portable SSDs.
As the name suggests, the new T7 Shield Portable SSD is designed to withstand rough use in challenging workspaces.
The SSD is IP65 classified, so you won’t lose data if the SSD comes into contact with dust or water. In addition, it easily survives falls from up to three meters high.
The T7 Shield inherently has a grippy rubber coating that makes it more robust. Furthermore, the rubber coating keeps the SSD cool when reading or writing large files.
The SSD weighs about 98 grams and for those interested in dimensions, the SSD is 88 x 59 x 13 mm (3.5 x 2.3 x 0.5 inches). T7 Shield Portable SSD is available in three color variants namely blue, beige and black.
In terms of internal hardware, the new T7 Shield Portable SSD is comparable to the regular T7 SSD offered by Samsung. Based on their requirements, users can get 1TB or 2TB storage capacity.
According to Samsung, the SSD can deliver up to 1,050 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write speeds. These speeds are approximately 1.9x faster than SATA-based portable SSDs.
The SSD supports most mainstream operating systems such as Windows 7, macOS 10.10 and Android 5.0 or higher.
The Samsung T7 Shield Portable SSD is available worldwide and the 1TB variant costs $159.99. On the other hand, the 2TB variant costs $289.99. As for accessories, you get a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable.
