Make your phone look like nothing Phone 1 with Dbrand’s ‘Something’ skins

Want a phone that looks a lot like the recently released and much-discussed Nothing Phone (1), an Android smartphone from a company founded by OnePlus ex-chief Carl Pei.

Enter Dbrand, the well-known accessory maker involved in skins and cases for smart devices, has announced a new set of smartphone skins called “Something”, which replicates the geometric white and gray design of the Nothing Phone (1).

For inexperienced users, the Nothing Phone (1) is a unique design smartphone that stands out for its transparent back panel with 900 LED lights. The company refers to this lighting setup as Glyph Interface. On the transparent back panel of the smartphone, you can view some of the internal components, including LEDs that flash when you receive a call, receive a message, app notifications, charging status and more.

“Minimalism for the masses,” Dbrand writes on his product page.

“Imagine trying to break into the smartphone market. Turns out having less money than Apple makes it a bit difficult. Availability? Limited. Delivery? Limited.

“Even with a design so attractive that people pay ridiculous fees at StockX, no one can get their hands on your beautiful new flashlight. To top it all off, the bastards at Dbrand have copied your design and are making it for the competition.”

With the Something skins, the vinyl skin maker has not only seemingly taken a dive into Nothing, but also plagiarized their design. Well, that’s not what Dbrand thinks.

“Some might accuse us of theft. Here’s our counter: we didn’t steal anything. After all, we spent a lot of time looking at internal hardware thanks to our Teardown initiative. As a result, we are ideally qualified to break down an industrial design aesthetic and ‘creatively reinterpret’ it for other devices. That’s not theft – it’s plagiarism, which is certainly not a crime. We checked,” the company adds on its website.

Coming back to the Dbrand ‘Something’ accessories, the skins and cases are currently only available for three premium devices: the iPhone 13 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and Google Pixel 6 Pro. However, the skin does not come with LED lights like Nothing Phone (1).

The Dbrand Something Skin costs $24.95 for all smartphone models, while the cases cost $54.90 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max and $49.90 for the Google Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

You can buy Something skins and cases from Dbrand’s official website. Dbrand also plans to release Something skins for the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, as well as other smartphone models, depending on demand.
