iPadOS 16 with new multitasking features unveiled by Apple at WWDC 2022

Apple just unveiled the new iPadOS 16 at the WWDC 2022 event. The latest version of the iPad operating system will include new features that bring laptop-level multitasking closer. As announced by Apple, the iPadOS 16 will be launched later this year.

The iPadOS 16 will share some of its features, including password support for Safari and the redesigned Home app with macOS. In addition, it will have some more features of its own. A new whiteboard collaboration software and weather app is coming later this year.

Apple has mainly focused on the multitasking features. The iPadOS 16 becomes more efficient if you use an iPad with an M1 chip.

The Stage Manager feature introduced for macOS Ventura will be available on iPadOS 16, allowing you to drag and drop windows into place.

The collaboration features allow you to collaborate in apps such as Pages directly from the shared sheet. It notifies users when new changes are made to a shared file.

Apple has added a new whiteboard feature called Freeform. This app is designed to enable colleagues to contribute to a shared canvas. Moreover, it supports various file types as well as Apple Pencil.

Mail is also getting some new features like scheduling emails and canceling a message before it reaches the recipient. It also includes a Remind Later option. The tech giant has confirmed that the search function in Mail will also be improved.

Desktop-class apps will be available on the iPad, which will add new features such as a consistent redo and undo experience. It also allows you to see the folder sizes in Files. These features are included to give you a more desktop-like experience while using your iPad.

Those who have an iPad Pro get a special feature called Reference Mode. This function allows the device to meet the color requirements for color correction, color approval and evaluation, and color composition.

The new iPadOS 16 updates are available to developers starting today, while a public beta will be released in the coming month. As for the full release, it will be in the fall.

According to Apple, iPadOS 16 supports all iPad Pro models, iPad mini 5th generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad Air 3rd generation and later.
