Isn’t it amazing that as iPhone users we get new features with every software update? Since iOS 16 was such a big update, we can definitely expect some cool features like photo cropping, which is part of the visual search feature. Photo crops have been in high demand since their launch and I can tell you it’s actually quite useful. But what if the photo cropping feature is not working properly on iOS 16.
Don’t worry, if you are also facing the same problem of cropping images not working on your iOS 16 device then you have come to the right place. In this article, I am going to share some of the solutions that can help you fix the problem of cropping images not working on iOS 16 devices.
IOS 16 image crop not working: solutions
1. Compatible file with snipping function:
many of you are not aware of this, but photo cropping can only work with its compatible file. If for some reason you cannot use this function, please check the file format first. If the images are TIFF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, DIB, ICO, CUR, and XBM, and the videos are in M4V, MP4, MOV, and AVI file format, only the photo crop function will work.
2. Compatible device with clipping function:
Not every iPhone device supports this feature. Your device must be running iOS 16 or later and must have an A12 Bionic chip or later for this feature to work on your iPhone.
3. Visual Lookup:
Visual lookup is quite useful when it comes to identifying objects such as animals, books, plants and a person from your gallery image and the crop feature is part of the visual lookup feature. Make sure that the visual lookup feature is enabled so that the photo cropping feature can work. To enable visual lookup, go to the settings app > Siri & search > enable show in lookup feature.
4. Disable Live Photos:
Disabling the live photo option before using the crop feature might work. With the Live Photo option enabled, you will notice that the image keeps moving through Live Photos and it becomes difficult for you to select the subject from the frame when you try to select the subject. Therefore, make sure to turn off live photos.
5. Reboot your device:
Restarting your device may resolve the issue that caused the shutdown feature to stop working. It also removes unnecessary hurdles not only for this feature but also for other apps or features that are facing similar issues.
6. Reset your device:
By resetting your device, you can delete all data and restore your iPhone to factory settings. You may want to make a backup before resetting your device. But you should use this as a last resort if other solutions mentioned above fail to work.
That’s it, folks! Try the solutions mentioned above and they will surely solve your problems. And even after trying all the solutions, image cropping feature is still not working on your iOS 16 device, then you need to contact Apple Care Support and get their help in fixing this problem.
