iOS 16.2 beta 3 new features

Apple recently released iOS 16.2 beta 3 for developers, exactly one week after iOS 16.2 beta 2 and iOS 16.1.1. iOS 16.2 public beta 3 will be released soon, along with OS 9.2 beta 3, iPad OS 16.2 beta 3, Mac OS 13.1 beta 3, TV OS 16.2 beta 3, audio OS 16.2 beta 3, and homepod OS 16.2 beta 3. iOS 16.2 beta 3 was 678.3 megabytes on the iPhone 14 Pro Max and about 500 megabytes on the iPhone 11. The size of the update depends on the iPhone model you’re using. The build number of this update is 20c 5049e. Apple sticks with the e at the end of the build number, usually moving closer to the letter A as we get closer to a final release.

When it comes to the new features and upgrades that iOS 16.2 beta 3 brings, let’s start with the Always on Display. There are two new toggles on the Always On Display page that you can find from the Settings app. Show wallpaper and show alerts are the two new choices. So from now on you can hide the wallpaper and notifications from the screen which is always on, saving you a lot of battery life and also not being distracted by the notifications.

When it comes to the lock screen, you will notice several new choices when you personalize the lock screen wallpaper. If you click on the three dots, the option Show photos in the library will appear, along with the grayed-out depth effect. The depth effect option has been added to the list, making customization easier than ever before and also providing more options.

The battery level action in the shortcut app has also been tweaked and given new options. Previously we could only add the battery level, but now we can have a little background behind it, meaning we can tap it to see if it’s charging or connected to something or not.

Apple recently announced an Emergency SOS via satellite for the iPhone 14 Pro series. This feature is only available on devices with an active mobile connection. This also includes answering urgent questions, so you get the care you need faster. This will use the satellite to send and receive messages; all you need to do is keep pointing your iPhone towards the sky to maintain the satellite connection.

There is also a new lock screen widget. iOS 16.2 beta 3 has a sleep tracking widget. It helps you track your sleep cycle by collecting data from the health app and displaying it on the lock screen. In terms of performance, iOS 16.2 beta 3 outperforms previous betas of iOS 16.2.

That’s it, folks! The iOS 16.2 beta 3 and iPadOS 16.2 beta 3 are now available for developers to install and test, with more public betas expected this week. Let us know your thoughts on iOS 16.2 beta 2 in the comment section below.

Until next time, with another topic. Until then, Toodles.
