How to Use White Noise on iPhone: Play the Best Background Noise

Apple never fails to bring great features to its users every year with every new installment of the iOS version. Also this time with iOS 15 there were many breathtaking features; among them was the white noise feature.

Although it is a simple background noise feature, many users have their own praise for it. There are many ways to use it. Either to fill the silence or to sleep with a soothing nature sound. Many third-party apps offer this feature, but why go to so much trouble when you can use Apple’s built-in feature?

What is white noise?

White noise is a type of random audio that is often used to mask snoring and facilitate sleep. There may also be other purposes that meet your needs. Not only is there white noise, but there are several other types of sounds that serve the same purpose, such as brown noise, pink noise, ocean sounds, and so on.

How to add a hearing to your control center:

To have white noise as an option in your Control Center, you must first add it in the Settings app.

  1. On your iPhone, go to the Settings app.
  2. Locate and select the “Control Center” menu.
  3. Look for the “Hear” control and add it.
  4. Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to open Control Center to see if the hearing option has been added.

After you add Hearing to the Control Center, you can use it to activate white noise. Balanced noise, clear noise, dark noise, ocean, rain and current. These are all examples of white noise and are used to cancel out background noise from which you can choose.

  1. Navigate to Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of the home screen.
  2. In Control Center, select Hearing (the ear icon).
  3. Choose a background sound from the Speaker menu in Hearing.
  4. You can adjust the volume to your liking.
  5. There is also the option to connect an audio device.
  6. Make sure the Background Sounds button at the bottom is set to “on”.
  7. If it’s off, tap it to turn it on.

How to enable white noise via Settings app:

  1. On your iPhone, launch the Settings app.
  2. Find and select the “Accessibility” menu.
  3. Choose the Audio/Visual option under Hearing.
  4. Background sound must be selected.
  5. To enable Background Sounds, tap the on/off switch at the top of the page.
  6. If you want, you can adjust the volume and enable ‘stop sounds when locked’.
  7. Make sure to select a sound before exiting.

To enable white noise with Accessibility:

  • On your iPhone, launch the Settings app.
  • Find and select the “Accessibility” menu.
  • Scroll down and select the Accessibility Shortcut option under General.
  • Select Background sounds from the list by tapping it.
