How to disable dynamic island on iPhone 14?

Say goodbye to the boring notch and get to know the new concept called Dynamic Island, which lets you view content in a pill-shaped notch. Looking back at the notch Apple introduced in 2017 with the release of the iPhone X and its series, it hid the TrueDepth camera system and the front-facing camera. Since then, the notch has changed in style, but it has remained the same on all upcoming iPhone models. This year, Apple planned to do something different with the notch, and instead of changing the style or structure, Apple has completely removed the notch and introduced some new exciting things for users to look forward to. Dynamic Island I think is one of the brilliant ideas that can be created by removing the notch.

What is Dynamic Island and how does it work?

Dynamic Island is one of the most talked about features when it comes to the iPhone 14 Pros model. It’s a pill-shaped cutout that can be found on top of the screen of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. You can see Dynamic Island surrounded by your phone screen from all sides.

The Dynamic Island has a 31% smaller TrueDepth camera system and a redesigned proximity sensor that detects light from behind the screen, according to Apple. So it’s much smaller, but it contains basically identical sensors that have been upgraded and made even smaller.

Dynamic Island shows information and notifications, such as showing if you’re connected to AirPods, showing numbers of your ongoing calls, battery percentage, notifications about your ride from Uber, songs playing in the background, and much more. It is not limited to one application, if you have two applications running in the background, Dynamic Island will split into two pieces, so one program has a small pill on the left and another has a small circle on the right.

According to the statement from Apple, Dynamic Island will support applications like Phone, FaceID, Voice Memos, Clock, Maps, Wallet, Music, etc. Apart from these, third party apps that have Dynamic Island integration for their updates can also support this feature like WhatsApp, Instagram , Skype, Spotify, Youtube Music, Audible, Google Voice, etc.

Does iPhone 14 support Dynamic Island?

To our disappointment, Dynamic Island is limited to iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models only. iPhone 14 does not have Dynamic Island. The dynamic island is also not supported by older devices from iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus to older iPhone models. Only the model with an A16 Bionic chip is compatible with the Dynamic Island function.

How to disable dynamic island on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max?

Dynamic Island is undoubtedly a very useful feature and makes this easier for us. But there are many users who disagree. If you don’t want the dynamic island to show up on your screen all the time, there may be a way to get rid of it. Currently there is no option to disable the dynamic island feature, but we can just ignore the cut out dynamic island by swiping left or right of your screen.

The dynamic island can be distracting, especially if you’re working on something important with your phone. To remove the distraction, simply swipe left or right on the dynamic island. This will not affect background activity. This would make the animations disappear for a while. Removing all interaction on Dynamic Island will revert the pill form to its former inactive state, leaving you to focus only on what else is on the screen.

Until next time, with another topic. Until then, Toodles.
