Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled the Agneepath or Agnipath recruitment program on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Agneepath’s proposal would add 46,000 personnel to the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, a move that will see improvements promises in the Indian Armed Forces. The remaining persons would be allowed to leave and get a Seva Nidhi which would consist of a one-time sum of Rs. 11.71 lakh plus interest. The recipient can use this tax-free amount to realize his ambitions.
Since a regular cadre is expected to serve for at least another 15 years, the candidates will definitely be chosen for enlistment in the military. Selection is governed by the Terms of Service, as amended from time to time.
